Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, I am Darlene. It’s good to be alive. Why did I choose this topic? Because just a few weeks ago, I was chatting with my net friend on MSN. And his code is “it’s good to be alive”. I was so curious so I asked him why ? He told me that one month ago he had had a car accident. When he was driving on the highway, there was a car speed up and bumped his car from the left, then his car spun three rounds. At that moment, it’s totally empty in his mind, he knew he couldn’t breathe but he was still conscious. After that, he didn’t remember anything, he just kept seeing three flashes of white light. He didn’t know the light is God’s call or just the operating lamp. I was so shocked and asked him, “ if you injured so bad, why could I still talk to you now?” He said “ Because when I lied on the operating table, I kept reminding myself, I am only thirty years old, and I didn’t get married yet, so no matter what, I have to take one more breath.” So this will support me to survive again. Now I cherish my life very much, because it’s really good to be alive.

His words recalls me about my friend’s father. He was paralysed last year. And he was a soldier, so he is very majestic. But after he paralysed, he can’t move his left side of body, so he felt he has no majesty, and then he refused to receive rehabilitation treatment. One day my friend and I go to hospital to visit her father. Her elder sister also came to see him. She is pregnant and will have childbirth at the end of the year, so she tell her father that” I will deliver a baby soon, if you don’t receive rehabilitation treatment, you won’t be able to hug your grandson. So dear father you have to rehabilitate” And my friend also encouraged her father to receive the treatment, cause my friend would get married next month, so she says” father, I will get married next month and you are the wedding host. I already print my wedding invitation. So you have to recuperate as soon as possible” But the most touching thing is I heard my friend’s mother talk to her husband that” I don’t feel tired or toilsome even though I have to massage your body everyday. But you promise you will accompany me until we pass away, and you also say you want to hug your grandchild, how can you break your commitment?” Although my friend’s father didn’t say a word, he still drops his tears and started to receive the rehabilitation treatment. And now he can walk with crutch.

I think everybody exists in this world is because you have hope. In your life you always have something you want to do but not doing yet. And only hope can support us to face any difficulty even death. People say when you are dying, everything happens in your life would like a movie scene appears in front of you, and you will think you have something you are not doing yet, so I hope everybody can cherish your life, don’t take your life no matter what. For example, like commit suicide. It’s the most stupid and irresponsible behavior. So just like my motto” Seize the moment, don’t regret” So if you want to do something, just do it now, because it’s really good to be alive and only you are alive, you can materialize your dreams.
