Because financial tsunami attack our world so many countries got a big problem in economy, rich man’s property became bubble companies bankrupt and so many workers be unemployed even they have job now they still worry about that they will be the next one, bosses don’t know how to keep their company going employees don’t know how to keep their job and keep their family well so many people got high stress that really make a serious damage in our society.
According to research when people don’t know how to solve problem which way they can go usually most of people will go to ask fortune teller ask for their future, there are some ways that fortune teller use to predict your future such as palm reading 紫微斗數 or 測字, for young man the most popular tool is horoscope, horoscope is similar like紫微斗數 you can know your personality by horoscope then through that to predict your future, some one say your personality design your future.
Dear fellow toastmasters do you believe that? Yes, I believe the saying your personality design your future but I don’t believe horoscope, because so many things can influence your personality. Here is an example, this boy his birthday is 1/14 according to horoscope he is Capricorn Capricorn’s personality are shy hard working stubborn serious traditional practical cruel logical, did he own those characteristics? Yes he did, some elder friends told that when he was a baby he was silent he dislike people to hug him he seldom smile just sat in the baby walker and did not thing judge by his behaviors he was so shy serious and dislike to social, I like this cute boy so much because this kind of baby is so easy to take care just put there give him food then he will grow up by him self you don’t need to spend too much time to take care, this boy was so thoughtful if I have a son like him that will be a luckiest thing in my life, but in the other hand after this boy grow up he might has a big problem because people are social but he dislike social how can he live with people. And he was stubborn nobody can change his mind from his dressing I know he is not a fashionable person because he never change his style so he was not open minded and he was practical he start to mad business from his elementary school student hood because he knew he couldn’t rely on others he need make money for him self, and he was cruel once he grew some vegetables that was organic because he was just a little boy he didn’t know how to use pesticide so the worm ate his vegetables do you know what he did? Yes, he kill the worms but not let them die so easily, he thought I need to revenge I work so hard to grew those vegetables they broke my achievement I must let them die painfully so he catches the worms he broke ants nest ants went out to fond the enemy then he put worms in ants home let ants bite them until they die, this gut was so cruel, you might guess he will be a criminal like 陳進興in the future, you are not 100% wrong because陳進興 was a Capricorn too, but this boy didn’t become a criminal, because this boy is me I am not a criminal now.
When I tell people I am Capricorn no body believe because I am totally different with Capricorn they always ask me, are you joking no body can feel that I am shy I am serious, am I? And am I cruel? No I am so friendly you couldn’t find those characteristics from me, but I admit I am a little stingy most of Capricorns are stingy. You might wonder what happen in my life why could I change a lot. Yes, it must have a lot of things can say, but all in all that main reason is environment, environment changes my personality, for example since my father he likes to move home so I have more chance to stand in front of my classmate to introduce my self such environment forces me to contact with people then I used to talk with people you might think my father he was like 孟母 he moved just want to fond a suitable place let us to grew up, of course not you think too much that just was his habit, and because my life experience and teacher’s educating I am not cruel any more and from society’s problem I knew no body is almighty no body is always right no rule can last forever we should be open minded we have to accept other’s suggestion we need innovation so I am not stubborn now.
Dear fellow toastmasters remember the saying your personality design your future, but environment can changes your personality you just need to find a good environment to change your self then you can change your future, so your destiny is controlled in your hand. And where is the good environment? Toastmaster is, you can see many evidences here this environment changes them a lot, create a great environment let people to grow that is our goal that is what our officer are doing now, dear friends do you enjoy it? If you are satisfied I am so happy about that, but if you are not I know nobody is perfect there still have some weak points need to improve I hope and welcome you to join us let’s do it together to create a better environment, “finding a good environment” is not the only one way what you can do, you also can create the environment for your self and for others.

A16 The Briefing
Title: the interest of running a club
Date: 08/19/2008
Time: 8 to 10 for speech, 5 for question period
Objectives:
Apply the key steps in the preparation of a briefing and the organization of material.
Give a briefing according to a specific objective so the audience will have an understanding of the information.
Effectively handle a question-and-answer session following the briefing.
Opening
“Interest” is an interesting word it has several meaning, therefore you may wonder what I want to talk about, right? So let me explain this word first. “Interest” means as you know some thing what you concern about, what you are eager to know or do, because you like it, it can make you happy. So “interest of running a club” means that why running a club can make you happy. And then another meaning for “Interest”, it can means benefit or profit, when you deposit money in bank, bank will pay you a little of money that call interest, so interest=money=benefit, “interest of running a club” can means what benefit you can get if you run a club. Besides these meanings “Interest” also can means importance some thing will give us great influence not only affect you. So “interest of running a club” also means that why running a club is important for us. Now you know what I want to talk about, three parts of running a club.
First one, why running a club can make you happy. I believe every one has his dream and goal when you are realizing your goal you are making your dream come truth you do it alone do you feel lonely? And you might face problems you don’t know how to solve it that makes you depressed at that moment nobody accompany you nobody encourage you could you keep going to conquer the adversity? Even in the final you reach your goal but nobody share the result and happiness with you could you be happy to enjoy your success? Of course not, we all face this situation or heard this kind of story many times, nobody will feel happy. But in our club we have officer team if you were an officer you not work alone you have partners to realize the goal with you many people will inspire you when need encouragement when you need help always you can fine some one who want to give you a hang, we do it together we encourage each other we help each other, in the end of year we share the result together. So being an officer running a club can really makes you happier.
Second one, what benefits you can get from running a club. 1. Develop your SQ. what is SQ? It is social intelligence quotient. People are social we live together, so we must know how to social we must develop our SQ. If you were an officer you need to set goal for members, therefore you have the chance to view things and think from other member’s side you could be more considerate you need to comfort and concern about members and then influence them you need to persuade them to cooperate with your policy then you could know how to communicate. 2. Make a lot of friends. If you were an officer you need to contact many people, when you work with them you could have chance to know them more and make your relationship closer. 3. Build self confidence. From magazine we can see that many fellow toastmasters build their self confidence when they served as an officer, because they realized their goals they got the feedback then they became confident. If you were an officer you also could get it.
Third one, why running a club is important for us. We all knew that environment can give people great influence, so Mencius his mother moved three times for him our past president Darlene was same with her, but besides that people are another important element for environment, right? If you choose the wrong person to be the officer he will set wrong goal for us lead us to the wrong direction, in the final we may lose our club. Do you want it happen? If you really like this club I believe you don’t, and for other people we have obligation to maintain this place let them can grow here positively, because we took this benefit before.
Dear fellow toastmasters from our past officer election I could feel that our members are so kind and so modest, because our election was so peaceful, nobody want to be the officer, but in the bottom of my heart I suggest you to be the officer, you can get benefits from the process you can make your life happier add colors in your life and you can be the important person in our club, because you can design our club’s future, seldom people have the key to open the door you should seize this opportunity don’t give the wrong person this key, I hope next year our election will be competitive I will see many candidate eager to be the officer.
