Note of Advanced Manual Training Sharing

Division D and K arranged an advanced manual training on June 18 for members. 

It's really great and useful not only for Toastmasters speech delivering but also for our daily life or career.
Here is some notes from our member Wayne Hsiao and Amanda Hsu.

A6 The Persuasive Leader Title: Use the right thing in right way

Time limit: 6 to 8 minutes speaker: Jason Wu

Objectives: communicate your vision and mission to an audience.

Convince your audience to work toward achieving your vision and mission.

Before Wright brothers invented airplane “flight” was a dream for human being, no body can fly only bird can fly. Before Armstrong stepped on moon “go to space” was a fable, no body can do it only god can. Scientists, I respect you so much, because of you our dream came true fable became reality, human being is more powerful human being is more like a god.

Ladies and gentlemen do you how many benefits you get from technology? If scientist didn’t invent car and you wand to visit Taipei so you only can go there by walking or horse riding you might spend one month or more no transportation, that was so inconvenience. But now only several hours or lease one hour. Since technology develop well our life become convenience become more vivid we can through internet to buy any thing we can drive and make phone call in the same time, I know that is dangerous I don’t suggest you to do it, but you know that is convenience, before invented lamp what can we do at night time? Can you live without electronic power? There are too many benefits we get from technology.

But when you enjoy technology have you ever think the bad part of technology? Normally we just enjoy technology forget about the bad effect or even ignore, is it a correct behavior? Absolutely not, for example “air conditioner”, many people sleep not so well without air conditioner especially in summer time, because weather is too hot, but what makes weather so hot? It is Car and air conditioner. Because car and air conditioner produce badly air it destroy ozonosphere and then sun light shine on earth heat up weather. It is ridiculous, air conditioner make weather cool, but it also the main reason what make weather hot, in future we might can live in moon Jupiter or other planet, because our technology develop sc well we can live anywhere, but why should we move to other planet? Because too much pollution in earth. What pollute earth? It’s technology.

Every thing has too sides, technology can make our life better it also can destroy our life. I believe all of scientists they want to gave us a bright future not take us to darkness, Wright brothers invented airplane for the dream of fright, but airplane became weapon in second world war kill so many people, that is not what they want, is it their mistake? Can we blame them? Of cause not the error should belong to user, because they use it in wrong way. We are all users, my dear friends do you feel that we use technology in wrong way we abuse technology? Yes, I feel. We abuse technology and cause environment’s revenge such as global warming land slide flood or desertification. We are powerful we are like god but nature is real god, we do things in wrong way it will punish us. Dear fellow toastmasters technology is like a sword, it is useful and powerful, if you use it in right way right direction it will bring you a bright future and happiness, but if you use it in wrong direction it will harm yourself you suicide, so be careful control it well.

A5 Addressing the Opposition title: Reverse osmosis water drinking system

Objectives:

Prepare a talk on a controversial subject that persuades an audience to accept or at least consider your viewpoint.

Construct the speech to appeal to the audience’s logic and emotions.

Executive summary:

Occasionally speakers must address listeners on a controversial issue or subject, one on which your viewpoint differs. A speech of this type requires sensitivity and tact. Acknowledge your listener’s viewpoint, then present your own and its benefits. Find points of agreement. Illustrate your points with stories and anecdotes, project credibility and use humor. When answering questions, remain calm and answer in a positive manner, concluding with a positive statement.

Ladies and gentlemen good evening we all know that “sun light” “air” and “water” they are three most important elements in this world, we can’t live without them. No sun light plant can’t grow no plant no food no food we will die, no air our lifespan will be shorter then 3 minutes, and then “water” in our body about 60% is water we need water to help us to absorb, digest and improve metabolism, if water is not clean it will give our body some bad effect to cause some damager. Do you belief that water treatment plant clean water well? I don’t. since industry develop well pesticide use so much and we use so much chemical thing in our daily life, these behaviors pollute our water recourse, especially in kaohsiung there are so much factories such as china steel company china petrol company, so you can imagine how much pollution our water have. Fortunately technology also develop well, water purifier can solve this problem, but the question is that they are so many water purifiers which one is good which one is really useful? It’s so difficult to make decision. In Taiwan the most popular water purifier is reverse osmosis drinking water system, but is it a good water purifier? I disagree.

Reverse osmosis has best cleaning function among water purifiers, for this part I strongly agree, but is RO water good for our body? Not really, because RO system has strong cleaning function it can filter every thing from water about 99% no mater bad thing or good thing it’s function is too strong, They are so much essential minerals in water which our body need, such as Ca P Mg Fe Na K Cr ….., if we filter it out that might cause mineral shortage make some damage to our body. In 1977 America through 9 countries 50 teams to research on purified water the report shows that purified water doesn’t contain any minerals, it will cause heart disease osteoporosis and death. About 20 years ago in middle east area because they have water shortage this problem so America use reverse osmosis this way to purify sea water let middle east people drink, after several years their children’ teeth drop down, because no essential minerals in water they have calcium shortage, this problem is serious among growing children.

Besides that RO system will waste resource and pollute environment, because make 1 liter RO water it also will make 4 liters dirty water you drink 1 liter RO water and then drain 4 liters dirty water out, dirty water flow to stream river or ocean and then dirty water pollute stream river and ocean dirty water flow to anywhere it pollute anywhere.

Ladies and gentlemen you buy RO system for what? For your health for your family’s health, but can it really protect your health? Not really. Should we use it? Our resource is limited; if we use RO system it will waste our resource should we use it? Because you have money to buy RO system, so you can enjoy purified water and then drain dirty water to pollute water resource poor men they don’t have money to buy RO system so they should die they have to drink polluted water which you pollute? Dear fellow toastmasters I know you are so kind, so I suggest you that don’t use RO system.

A4 The Winning Proposal Title: Staff traveling proposal

Speaker: Jason Wu Date: 2006 11 21

Objectives: Prepare a proposal advocating an idea or course of action.

Organize the proposal using the six-step method provided

Time: Five to seven minutes

What is vivid life? Ladies and gentleman, we wake up in the morning eating working and then sleep at night we repeat such life date by date, gradually our life become uninteresting we lose our energy feel so tired every day. Our staffs are same with us if they do work without energy no desire to take challenge, will our company be better? Could our business reach to another peak? The answer should be no, so as a good company we shouldn’t only think about how to push them, we should think about how to offer them a good work environment how to give them a good quality life. New Year is coming, at New Year beginning we have 3 days vacation I suggest to hold a staff traveling, let our staff take a rest, improve their friendship with each other or improve relationship with family members, I believe a happy New Year beginning can bring a shining year. Here is my staff traveling project below.

Firstly I would like to introduce tour spot, our tour spot is “大雪山森林遊樂區” let’s look media.

(Media play) “High and steep mountains, and twinkling clusters of stars besprinkled” that is the perfect portrayal of the Dasyueshan National Forest Recreation Area, which lies in Heping Township, Taichung county. This area lies to the south of Snow mountain, and its crest line is 12 kilometers long. It extends from little snow mountain to Anma mountain, and the elevation is anywhere from 2,000 to 2,996 meters as the earth surface undulates greatly. This area is “Cloud and mist zone” according to meteorology, so “Sea of clouds” is famous landscape.

Besides “sea of clouds” Snow mountain has rich plant ecology, is an essence of Taiwan’s natural forest featuring each zone with an ecological view respectively. Behind Anma mountain house is a primitive forest of junipers which is quite rare in Taiwan. There lies a footpath of 2,682 meters long. Snow Mountain is a most perfect environment for the wild animals. The Formosan macaque jumps butterfly flies there, there are about 70 kinds of rare birds; this recreation area is an international resort for watching birds.

Would you like to look up into starry sky? Have you ever see moon rise from the sea of clouds? The night in Dasyueshan brings a fascinating dome of twinkling stars accessible to you, “Sky lake” is best spot for observing stars scenery is beautiful.

Lades and gentleman does this spot attract you? Here is time table for this project, we will start from 12/31 to 1/2, and because I need to book hotel, the deadline is 11/31, so please go back to ask staffs how many people will join and then answer me before 11/28, otherwise we need to spend more money for this project.
