(Opening)

One day, you turn on your computer, and you found the computer starts acting differently, it getting slow and slow or you can see a window pop up with messages that you don’t understand. Warming! Your computer might infected by virus.

(Body)
Good evening, my dear fellow members,
What is a computer virus? A virus is a program that "infects" files in a computer. When one of infected files is opened, the virus will start working on your computer. The intention of virus is to cause chaos and destruction to the computer. Some viruses are relatively harmless, and will only delete some files from your hard drive. However some viruses are very dangerous, and can do permanent damage to your computer.

In addition, some viruses will duplicate itself, which enables it to infect other computers. Once a virus starts to spread, it can very quickly infect a large number of computers - creating a big problem all around the world. How do viruses spread from one computer to another? The majority of viruses are spread through e-mail attachments.

So the most simple and basic way to keep away from virus is not to open any attachment that you are uncertain about, even the mail is from your friends. Because many viruses 'steal' e-mail addresses from your Outlook or Yahoo address book, and then send themselves to all your friends in your address book. I suggest you can try the ‘Google mail’, it is the most powerful mail server I ever used. The gmail can block virus mails as well as garbage mails through its novel filter system. And the most exciting function to me is that you can open most office files, such as word files or excel files, without download them to your computer. The gmail will show the file content in your browser windows, that means you can minimize the risk from download files to your computer. The action ‘download’ will make chaos to your computer if you open a file with virus, so please don’t download files as possible as you can.

Another way to protect your computer away from virus, in my opinion, is to execute virus scan before you plug-in USB flash drives (we used called as big thumb). USB Flash drives have become popular during recent times. It is a convenient way to copy files from one computer to another, we used to copy mp3 or office files through USB Flash drives. So it is a good media to computer viruses and the Windows always auto execute files in flash drives when you plug-in. As consequence, the viruses will infect your computer. So, please do not use the autorun function in Windows.

(Conclusion)
Almost every computer has antivirus software but we still face the risk from viruses. Because new viruses are produced everyday, no one antivirus software can block or kill all viruses. Therefore, to keep good habits in computer use are very important. Many friends usually ask me : what is the ultimately way to avoid virus infection? My answer is: backup your files frequently! Once virus destroys your system, you still keep your files!
